Privacy policy

The short version: if you send us an enquiry, we use your details to reply to you and to talk about your project. We don't sell them, we don't add you to a mailing list, and this site sets no tracking cookies.
Who we are
Offset is an independent web studio run by Harry Large, trading as Offset. We're the data controller for any personal information collected through this website. You can reach us at hello@madebyoffset.com.
What we collect and why
When you use the enquiry form we collect your name, business name, email address, your current website address if you give one, and whatever you write in your message. We use this to reply to you, to look at your existing site, and to build and discuss a first version of a new one if it looks like a fit. Our lawful basis is legitimate interest: you've asked us about our work and we're answering.
If you email us directly, we hold that correspondence for the same purpose. We don't use your details for marketing, and we won't add you to any mailing list without asking you first.
Who handles the data
A small number of services process data on our behalf to make the site and our email work:
- Web3Forms delivers enquiry form submissions to our inbox.
- Cloudflare hosts this website and, like any host, keeps standard server logs (things like IP addresses) for security and performance.
- Google Workspace provides our email, so messages you send us are stored there.
Each of these acts under its own security and data-protection commitments. Some may process data outside the UK; where they do, recognised safeguards such as the UK's data-bridge arrangements or standard contractual clauses apply.
Cookies and analytics
This site sets no cookies and runs no analytics or tracking. If that ever changes, we'll update this page and, where the law requires it, ask for your consent first.
How long we keep things
We keep enquiries and project correspondence for as long as there's a live conversation or working relationship, and for a reasonable period afterwards in case you come back. If you'd like your details deleted sooner, ask and we'll do it.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law you can ask us for a copy of the information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, delete it, or restrict how we use it, and object to our use of it. Email hello@madebyoffset.com and we'll sort it, usually within a few days and always within a month. If you're unhappy with how we've handled something, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
Changes to this policy
If we change how the site works in a way that affects your data, we'll update this page and change the date at the top.
